BLUEPRINT MAGAZINE POSITIONS 2016-2017

Production Manager

The Production Manager will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief on the physical production of each issue. Having a strong influence and hand in the design of page layouts, image selection, and overall look of Blueprint, the Production Manager should have strong design and computer skills, comprehension and desire to learn the process of production, and be able to dedicate specific time to the construction of the issue. Also, being able to work efficiently both individually and in a group dynamic is needed.

Literary Editor

The Literary Editor position should be held by someone who can submit at minimum one original piece every issue but also has a critical and comprehensive eye for others writing. In charge of the written content within Blueprint, the Literary Editor should have strong interpersonal skills, as they will be tasked with communication with contributors and encouraging others to contribute. Also, strong reading and writing skills are highly important, as editing, proofreading, and critical examination of text are part of this position.

Art and Photography Manager

The Art and Photography Manager will oversee and contribute their own original work to each issue of Blueprint. By forging connections with other artists and photographers both on campus and in the community, the Art and Photography Manager will be tasked with the visual content within each issue of Blueprint. A strong interest in art and photography is important as well as action plans to gather a wide variety of different mediums of art to include within issues. Also, working with the Editor-in-Chief finding and contacting individuals artists to design cover art for each issue. Strong design and artistic skills are needed for this position as well as interpersonal skills.

Promotions Manager

This position will be integral to publicizing Blueprint’s name and image both on campus and in the community. By creating original ad campaigns, organizing issue launch events, holding concourse booths, and placing posters on campus with issue and event advertisements, the Promotions Manager will work outside of the production office but will have a significant impact on Blueprint’s image. Skills and experience within marketing, knowledge of multiple mediums that materials can be made and promoted in, and a creative approach are important for this position. Strong social media skills and enthusiasm for event planning an asset.

Intern

In collaboration with the senior staff team, Blueprint Interns will have the opportunity to assist in editing written submissions, formatting visual submissions, helping with production and assisting in the promotion of new issues and events. Interns will have the opportunity to ‘get their feet wet’ and develop their skills with a variety of different aspects of the publication, so an enthusiasm to learn is important for this position. We will try our best to suit projects and assignments to Interns’ interests.

Brantford Manager

While overseeing Blueprint’s distribution on the Brantford campus, the Brantford Manager will work with the Editor-in-Chief to discuss functionality, productivity, and possibilities of how Brantford can be more included and become more aware of Blueprint. The Brantford Manager also will be responsible for supporting the efforts of the other Brantford Staff.

Brantford Promotions Manager

This position will be integral to publicizing Blueprint’s name and image both on the Brantford campus and in the community. Coordinating with the Waterloo Promotions Manager and the Brantford Manager, the Brantford Promotions Manager will create original ad campaigns, organize issue launch events, and place posters on campus with issue and event advertisements. Skills and experience within marketing, knowledge of multiple mediums that materials can be made and promoted in, and a creative approach are important for this position.

Strong social media skills and enthusiasm for event planning an asset.

Brantford Literary Intern

In collaboration with the Literary Editor, the Brantford Literary Intern will edit submissions and act as a point of contact for the Brantford division of the writing team. The Brantford Literary Intern will also have the opportunity to organize get-togethers for the Brantford writing team. Strong people skills, enthusiasm for the written word and an eye for intelligent editing are important for this position.

Brantford Art and Photography Intern

In collaboration with the Art and Photography Manager, the Brantford Art and Photography Intern will format art submissions and act as a point of contact for the Brantford division of the art and photography team. The Brantford Art and Photography Intern will also have the opportunity to work with the Art and Photography Manager and both Brantford and Waterloo Promotions Managers to design promotional materials. Strong people skills and enthusiasm for creative expression are important for this position. Photoshop skills an asset.
